    Final Assignments
When you have finished exploring all the pages and completed the assignments, please choose one of the three final research projects to work on.
    Science Research Assignment Option #1
    Create a “Spaceology” Book
Your assignment is to create a page for our “Spaceology” book. This will require you to write a book about space that contains an interesting story and facts about space. You may work alone, with a partner or with a small group, however, all participants must be able to show their portion of the work. Your Spaceology book must include information on the Sun, all 8 planets in our solar system, as well as information on Pluto, and at least one other non-planet space object. You must answer the following questions for each planet:
    1) Describe each planet or object. For example, how big is it? Is it a particular colour?
    2) Does it have any water? Air? Moons? Rings?
    3) How far is it from Earth or from the Sun?
    4) Is it fixed in space or does it travel?
    5) Does it have a “claim to fame”?
You will have to include different information for the other solar system object. You may also come across other important information that you want to add.
The following rubric outlines how you will be marked:

    Students will…
create an assignment that answers most of the above questions
    answer questions accurately and clearly
ensure that their page is mostly free of errors in conventions and that facts are correct and documented
ensure that their page is mostly finished in appearance, illustrated, coloured, neat and tidy

create an assignment that answers the above questions and some of the students own question
answer questions accurately, thoroughly and clearly
ensure that their page is free of errors in conventions (spelling, punctuation, grammar) and that facts are correct and documented
ensure that their page is finished in appearance, illustrated, coloured, neat and tidy
    Science Research Assignment Option #2
    Create a Solar System Model
Your assignment is to create a solar system model. You may work alone or with a partner, however, all participants must be able to show their portion of the work. Your model must include the Sun, all 8 planets in our solar system, Pluto, and at least one other non-planet space object. You will need to create an accurate model with planet sizes approximately proportionate (for example, the Sun is bigger than Earth; Earth is bigger than the moon). Your model could be done in many ways. Discuss your plan with Mrs. Oxley before you begin. In addition to your model, you must answer the following questions for each planet:
    1) Describe each planet or object. For example, how big is it? Is it a particular colour?
    2) Does it have any water? Air? Moons? Rings?
    3) How far is it from Earth or from the Sun?
    4) Is it fixed in space or does it travel?
    5) Does it have a “claim to fame”?
You will have to include different information for the other solar system objects. You may also come across other important information that you want to add.
The information could be placed on cue cards under each planet, written in a separate report or displayed in another way you’d like, so long as you discuss this with Mrs. Oxley.
The following rubric outlines how you will be marked:

    Science Research Assignment Option #3
Create your own research project on a topic covered in this wiki. You will need to discuss your ideas with Mrs. Oxley and pick up an inquiry rubric from her.
