1) Read Enchanted Learning's article Constellations. Answer the following questions on lined paper:
  • What is a constellation?
  • How many constellations are there?
  • Do you live in the northern or southern hemisphere? Name 5 constellations that are visible from the hemisphere you live in.

2) Click on the Astrosky Map and print it out. Circle the following constellations: the Big Dipper (Ursa Major), the Little Dipper (Ursa Minor), Canis Major, Casseopeia, Cygnus and Orion's Belt.

4) Click on the Constellations Frequently Asked Questions article and scroll to the question, "Did other cultures also see constellations in the sky?" Answer the following questions on lined paper:
  • Did all cultures see constellations in the sky?
  • List at least three other cultures and their names for the big dipper.

Watch either the Orion or Cassiopeia videos above. Next, on black paper draw the constellation you chose using a yellow pencil crayon. Connect the stars with lines drawn by a white pencil crayon. Under the constellation, write a summary of the story that goes with the constellation.

6) Click on the Star Map link. Print out the page and create your own fictional constellation. Cut it out and mount it on black construction paper. Name it and write a fictional story to go with it.
